Brazilian-born Douglas De Almeida is a professional ballet and contemporary dancer living in Cologne, speaking English, German, and Portuguese language. He received first ballet lessons in his hometown São Paulo. In 2010, Douglas began studying as a scholarship holder of the Birgit Keil Dance Foundation at Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts in Germany. In 2012, he was a participant in the Prix de Lausanne. As part of the master’s program, Douglas became a member of the ballet studio of the Karlsruhe State Theatre of Baden, where he had the opportunity to gain practical stage experience during the 2012-13 season and was hired for the ensemble at the beginning of 2013-14 season. There he appeared as Bob Cratchit and Harlequin in Youri Vámos' The Nutcracker, as Hortensio in John Cranko's The Taming of the Shrew, and as Guardian in Davide Bombana's The Process. Douglas has been employed at the Augsburg State Theatre since 2016 and performed here in Mauro de Candia's The Nutcracker as Drosselmeyer's nephew and Nutcracker. From 2020 on, he will be on stage in Richard Siegal's Ballet of Difference at Schauspiel Cologne.
